We spent last Saturday in the mountains, sawing beams from beetle killed pine at Crooked Creek Young Life camp. They have a mill up there and graciously allowed us to mill two logs into the beams shown below. Kurt and Drew distressed the beams with saws, machete, and sanders, and we stained and installed them today, and they look great. The cants, or rounded sections of the logs that have the bark were saved, and we are installing those on the window wall of Fisher’s room, because he wanted his room to be like the boy’s room in Where The Wild Things Are, with the trees. Should be pretty neat. Check out the beams below.
